The libraries are here to support your learning and research needs! Our services are available virtually and we are following health and safety protocols for in-person services.
Park Library Building Hours
- Park Library building hours are posted online.
- January 4-10, all study spaces are closed.
- January 11-15, the Park Library will be open from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Longer hours resume January 18.
- 1 North will open on Monday, January 11, at 7:30 a.m. and will be available 24 hours/day.
- January 11-15, the 1st floor Quiet Study will be open from 7:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Later hours resume January 18.
- To visit the Clarke Historical Library’s exhibit or reading room, please make an appointment.

Navigating the Park Library Building
- Follow directional signs when entering doors, waiting in lines, using staircases and elevators, and moving through public areas.
- When areas of the building reach maximum capacity, we will post signs directing users to other spaces.
- Events are cancelled for the foreseeable future. We are not accepting reservations for any of our event spaces or meeting rooms.
Studying at Park Library
- Follow Fired Up for Spring requirements to keep CMU healthy and safe.
- Complete the mandatory self-screening before entering the Park Library.
- At all times, wear a mask/face-covering covering your nose and mouth.
- At all times, maintain at least 6-feet of space between yourself and others.
- Plan to study by yourself. One person per table or carrel section.
- The 6-foot requirement applies to all library users – even if you are related to each other or live together.
- Currently, the library has limited capacity for groups. The group study rooms are not available. Groups of 2 or 3 are encouraged to use the Copeland Suite or 3 East. You can rearrange the furniture and must be 6-feet apart from each other.
- Learn more about studying at the library while physically distancing.
- Clean your work surface before and after use. Cleaning products are available throughout the building.
- Please note, fewer computers are available due to physical distancing.
- Library employees will walk through study spaces periodically to enforce these policies.
- Quiet classrooms on campus are available throughout campus where you can virtually attend your classes or take an online exam.
Accessing Physical Collections
- Physical collections are closed.
- You may borrow physical materials using our Contactless Book Pickup service. Students and faculty who live outside Mount Pleasant may request mail delivery or a scan of a book chapter.
- Return library books at one of three 1st floor book returns. The book return at the Checkout Desk is closed.

Our service desks are open to answer questions during regular building hours. We encourage you to use our virtual services.

Accommodations for Vulnerable Populations
- Members of vulnerable populations may use the 1st floor Quiet Study space on Fridays from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. During that time, the space is exclusively available for people from vulnerable populations.
- Use our virtual services for assistance with library collections and research needs.
- Use our contactless pickup service to obtain books and other physical materials. If you live outside Mount Pleasant, request mail delivery or a scan of a book chapter.
Community members
Community members are welcome to visit the Park Library!
- Visitors are required to monitor their symptoms daily before coming to campus. You must be able to answer NO to the following questions. If you answer YES to any of these questions, do NOT enter the Park Library.

- Have you been within 6 feet for more than 15 minutes of a COVID-19 positive person within two days prior to their diagnosis or positive test?
- Do you currently have, not due to underlying medical condition, one of these symptoms?

- Everyone has a personal responsibility to practice social distancing, frequent handwashing, cough/sneeze etiquette, proper tissue usage and disposal, avoidance of touching their face, and respecting others.
