You’ve made it to the final stages of the content migration for the new website.
On Thursday, Oct. 1, the Digital Strategy Team hosted its third training session. It focused on writing using the new brand platform and voice, perfecting writing web content and featured an introduction and live demo of Sitefinity, the new website platform.

Can I embed a video from somewhere other than YouTube? We don’t have a YouTube account, but we have a Panopto one.
Great question! Right now, the site is designed to embed videos from YouTube only. We are looking into expanding that to other platforms like Panopto and will be in touch when we know more.
How will I know what each widget does or looks like? What about templates?
The Digital Strategists are working hard on completing a comprehensive playbook that explains all the widgets and their functions and the different layouts and templates available.
How do I set up a link?
When adding a link, first decide if it is internal (links to another CMU page) or external (links to a non-CMU page). For an internal link, you’ll need to select the internal page from the list of existing pages. For an external link, you’ll need to copy and paste the website address and put it in the correct field.
Can I add buttons to my page?
Yes! The developers have designed a widget specifically for adding buttons to your pages. We’re still finalizing the details, so stay tuned.
How do I upload images and documents?
Your strategist will create folders for your images and documents within Sitefinity. You will be able to upload both into their appropriate folders.
Does Sitefinity provide analytics for my pages?
Google Analytics will be our main platform for analytics just as it has been in the past. Sitefinity has the ability to collect and compile analytics. The collection of data will start with MVP, and the compiling of data will be part of phase two in our website redesign project.
What if the images I want on my page are already in the CMU Photo Library?
Please reach out to your strategist with the images you’d like to use on your page and we will work to get them for you.
How will the intranet work?
We are still sorting out the fine details of the intranet or internal internet. When the new website goes live, nothing will be lost. We will be able to put redirects in place that link to the current intranet items.
Can I add other users to Sitefinity? How can my colleague review pages in Sitefinity if they don’t have a login?
You can ask your strategist for access on behalf of your team members if needed. If a colleague does not have a login, your strategist can arrange for temporary viewing access over a set period of time or provide a login if needed.
How do you transcribe a video?
When you upload a video to the platform that will host it, you should have the option for the platform to transcribe it.
Does each H2 need multiple H3s to support it?
No, each H2 does not need multiple H3s to support it. You can have as many or as few as needed to support your main point.
