A Library with a Clock in its Walls – Grandparents U Edition
“Lewis is in trouble. His warlock, Uncle Johnathan, told him not to touch a book in the Clarke Library, and he never said why. Lewis touched it anyway, and that’s when the ticking started. Little did Louis know that somewhere in the walls of the library was a hidden clock. The clock is now ticking sometimes loud, sometimes soft. Decode the secret spell and find the clock before it’s too late.”
Every June, children and their grandparents embark on a Grandparents U adventure throughout the Library. In past years, they have searched for fantastic beasts, found lost treasure, and traveled through a wrinkle in time. Quoted above, is this year’s adventure, based on the 1973 book and recent movie The House with a Clock in Its Walls.
During the quest, Grandparents U guests discovered locations in the Library as they worked on decoding the magic spell to stop the ticking clock and save the library. Each child was given their very own copy of The House with a Clock in Its Walls to use as a tool for decoding the secret spell. After finding and stopping the hidden clock, everyone enjoyed cookies, brownies, and made a clock of their own.
Thank you to all of our volunteers and special guests for once again saving the Library!
