ClassHook

The premise of ClassHook is that it has a wide selection of YouTube clips of various sizes and quality that are organized so that the educator can more readily search the database to find content that meets their needs. It is a web based application that requires an account.

The search function was somewhat cumbersome, and it was difficult to find a desired clip without multiple attempts at changing the parameters of the search to eventually find a result. However, the site has a good selection of “Official Playlist” that are easier to browse and find content.

By using media that the students are already familiar with it helps communicate ideas in a more familiar way. From Simpsons clips to Bill Nye segments, the audience seems a familiar face, saying familiar words, reinforcing content of the educators creation.

I would give it a 6 of 10, helpful, cumbersome, but not ground breaking.
