Koegel Meats was founded by German immigrant Albert Koegel in 1916 who after completing an apprenticeship in Germany, migrated to the United States and then to Michigan. Koegel’s headquarters today is in Flint, Michigan, the city where Koegel opened his first plant. Koegel chose Flint for his business because it was assumed—and later proven—that the expanding auto industry would provide for a fruitful market for sale of his products. Koegel’s most famous slogan “serve the curve” is still in use today and the company distributes their 35 products in Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, and Kentucky.
