Christa Clare, Acquisitions and Cataloging Specialist, will retire from the Clarke Historical Library on June 30, 2022. Christa has 37 years of service to CMU, with over 33 years in the Clarke Historical Library.
Christa has been a cornerstone in the Clarke Historical Library since January 1989. She started at CMU in 1985 as a Clerk in the Telecommunications department before moving to the Clarke Historical Library three years later. Through the years, as the Clarke’s services, collections, and staff have changed, she has adapted and provided critical support and expertise. Over time, Christa transitioned from Administrative Specialist to her current role as Acquisitions and Cataloging Specialist. She played a pivotal role in the day-to-day operations of the Clarke, including assisting in a variety of ways with the notable Clarke Speaker Series, coordinating the processing of incoming acquisitions and maintaining their documentation, coordinating the hiring of student employees, and greeting and assisting the many, many Clarke visitors. In January 2021, Christa added copy-cataloging to her list of accomplishments. She worked diligently to learn a new set of skills and tools and has been central to making many Clarke materials available to the public.
Her kindness, cheer, unrelenting helpfulness, and knowledge of the Clarke Historical Library are invaluable, and much will be lost with her parting.
Those of us in the University Libraries wish Christa a happy and relaxing retirement!
