Congratulations to our Graduating Student Employees!

CMU Libraries wishes to congratulate our student employees who will be graduating this Spring.

Ben Ackley has been a student employee in the Clarke Historical Library since December 2019. Ben will graduate in May with a Bachelor of Applied Arts with a major in Journalism and a minor in Multimedia Design. He plans to attend the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign to earn a master’s degree in Library and Information Science with an Archival and Special Collections pathway.

Favorite memory of the library: “Everything about working at the Clarke is fabulous, but I most appreciate the time I’ve spent with Archivist for University Digital Records, Bryan Whitledge.”

Favorite space in the library: “I love the stacks at the Clarke Historical Library. I’d sleep there if I could!”

Sydney Amsdill is a student employee in Access and User Services and has worked for the library for one year. Sydney will graduate in May with a Bachelor of Applied Arts with a Health Administration Major, and Substance Abuse Education: Prevention, Intervention, and Treatment Minor.

Favorite memory of the library: “Loved working with the staff. Everyone gets along and jokes with each other.”

Favorite space in the library: “I enjoyed working at the checkout desk because I got to interact with people and help patrons. When I am studying in my free time, I like the Copeland Suite.”

Emma Davis, a student employee in Access and User Services, has worked for the library for four years. Emma will graduate in May with a Bachelor of Science degree with a major in Actuarial Science and Statistics and a minor in Finance and Economics. She plans to move to Minneapolis, Minnesota where she will start her career with Thrivent as an actuarial analyst.

Favorite memory of the library: “Working nights with Tony and Randy.”

Favorite space in the library: “3 East”

Camille Dixson has been a student employee in the Clarke Historical Library since since June 2021. Camille will graduate in May with a Bachelor of Science degree with a Sociology major and a Public Health minor. She plans to enter the Master of Public Health program at the University of Michigan.

Favorite area of the library: “Working on creating the Broadside Press exhibit that was displayed in the library for Black History Month.”

Favorite space in the library: “The third-floor study rooms became my personal haven for late night studying and procrastination.”

Jawanza Edwards is a student technician for Library Systems and has worked with the library for two years. Jawanza will graduate in May with a Bachelor of Science degree with a major in Information Technology and plans to move out of state and pursue a career in cyber security.

Favorite memory of the library: “My favorite memory is my first day working. I was given a tour around the library to be introduced to all the staff and they were all warm and inviting.”

Favorite space in the library: “My favorite place in the library would have to be the Copeland Suite.”

Danielle Havrilla, a student employee in the Adobe Digital Lounge, has worked for the library for one year. Danielle will graduate in May with a Bachelor of Applied Arts degree with a major in Broadcast & Cinematic Arts and a minor in Multimedia Design and Cinema Studies. She plans to initially work as a production assistant in the film industry.

Favorite memory of the library: “I’ve really enjoyed being involved in the beginning stages of the Adobe Digital Lounge like finding ways to promote the space with videos and different projects. Also being able to provide my input on ways that the space can be improved in the future makes me very excited to see where this place goes!”

Favorite space in the library: “I’ve really enjoyed the Adobe Digital Lounge. I like that there’s a space in the library to collaborate with other creatives and create your own work. It’s also a very relaxed area of the library, which is a nice change of environment.”

Emily Korte, a student employee for Access and User Services, has worked at the library since 2019. Emily will graduate in May with a Bachelor of Science degree with a major in Dietetics. She plans to attend Northern Illinois University to pursue a Master of Science in Nutrition and Dietetics.

Favorite memory of the library: “One of my favorite memories is being able to help students or patrons research a topic. It’s very interesting to learn and explore a topic or major other than my own. When I’m able to work together with a student or patron to find articles, I feel a great sense of reward as they are always very appreciative.”

Favorite space in the library: “My favorite spot in the library is the third floor along the windows. I love being able to look outside while studying, especially if it’s snowing!”

Jarrett Kelley has been a student employee in Documents on Demand for one year. Jarrett will graduate in May with a Bachelor of Science degree with a major in Health Administration. He plans to work in health informatics for a major health organization or as an administrator at a long-term care facility.

A favorite memory of the library: “My favorite memory of working at the library is the view of campus during the morning. Seeing the sun rise in the morning is always a great start to the day.”

Favorite space in the library: “I enjoy the first-floor quiet study area because not many people know about that area and it is a cozy, quiet place to do homework and study.”

Hailey Nelson, a student employee in the Adobe Digital Lounge, has worked for the library for one year. Hailey will graduate in May with a Bachelor of Applied Arts degree with a major in Broadcast and Cinematic Art and a minor in Multi-Media Design and Marketing. She plans to work as a Production Assistant in the film industry either in Los Angeles or New York City.

Favorite memory of the library: “Going on a scavenger hunt with my co-workers to find books for the Digital Lounge!”

Favorite space in the library: “The private cubicles in the 3rd floor reading room.”

Amanda Meinke is a student employee for Access and User Services and has worked for the library for three years. Amanda will graduate in May with a Bachelor in Elementary Education, majoring in Early Childhood Development and Learning.  She plans to get a teaching job in kindergarten through second grade.

Favorite memory of the library: “I was able to work with one of my best friends this last school year.”

Favorite space in the library: “I just love the 4th floor the best.”

Lydia Nelson, a student employee for Access and User Services, has worked for the library for eight months. Lydia will graduate in May with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a double-major in marketing and logistics management. She plans to travel abroad for six months after graduation.

Favorite memory of the library: “My favorite memories at the library are chatting with my fun bosses and when I used to close at night. Closing reminds me of Night at the Museum.”

Favorite space in the library: “I loved studying in the third floor reading room cubicles.”
