Nichole Hochthanner, a student employee for Clarke Historical Library, has been working as a reading room assistant and has been employed at the library for two years. Nichole will graduate in December with a Bachelor of Arts degree. Nichole majored in Art History with a minor in Museum Studies and plans to apply to graduate school and work towards an MLS degree.
Favorite memory of the libraries: “Making pop-up book videos for the Clarke Pop-Up Book Exhibit.”
What space or area of the library did you enjoy the most: “My favorite space is the Baber Room because I can sit in there and work on homework while surrounded by art and silence.”
A fun fact: “I have been to over 20 concerts in my life.”
Josie Shephard, a student employee for Clarke Historical Library, has worked in the archival processing unit for almost a year. Josie will graduate in December with a Bachelor of Arts degree. Josie majored in Public History with a minor in Museum Studies. Josie’s field of study focuses on incorporating different community members’ stories into the already constructed historical narrative by providing connections between community members, historians, and museum and archival staff. Josie plans to attend graduate school at Indiana University Bloomington and work towards a master’s degree in History or Curatorship.
Favorite memory of the libraries: “My favorite memory of working in the library is getting to see all of the photos of historic ships in the Feltner Collection. “
What space or area of the library did you enjoy the most: “I really enjoy the Clarke as a whole because it is relaxing. Inside the Clarke my favorite space has to be the stacks because of how many historical documents are held there, and I love how many unique items the Clarke has stewardship over.”
Katlyn Groulx, a student employee in Acquisitions and Metadata Services, has worked for the library since the summer of 2021. Katlyn will graduate in December with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology in the field of Ecology, Evolution and Conservation. Katlyn plans to take a year off from academics to gain more field experience and then attend graduate school in 2023.
Favorite memory of the libraries: “My favorite memory of the short time I’ve worked here was getting offered a position at the library.”
What space or area of the library did you enjoy the most: “Mary Dow Reading Room.”
Fun Fact: “I can touch my thumb to my inner forearm.”
