Congratulations to our Library Student Employees!

CMU Libraries would like to congratulate our student employees who will be graduating this spring or student teaching this fall.

May your future be filled with joy and success!

GRADUATING STUDENTS:

Leah Ryal has been working in Business Services – art and exhibits for three years. Leah will graduate in May with a bachelor’s degree in Art History and Psychology. Leah’s future plans are to work in an art museum, adopt a cat, and move to Grand Rapids.

Favorite memory of the libraries: “I liked installing new art exhibits in the Baber Room. Sally Rose’s fiber arts installation was my favorite exhibit to install because I worked with a variety of mediums. I also liked the cake contest when we got to eat a bunch of cake.”

Lucia Christenson a student employee for Clarke Historical Library has been working as a student assistant for three years. Lucia will graduate in May with a bachelor’s degree in Political Science. Lucia’s future plans are to work at Dorsey College as an Admissions Representative.

Favorite place in the libraries: “The library’s wonderful exhibits.”

Mariah Barren, a student employee in Library Research and Instruction Services since August 2017, will graduate in May with a major in Psychology and a double minor in Spanish and Family Studies. This fall, Mariah will be attending the University of Chicago in their one-year program, the Master of Arts Program in the Social Sciences (MAPSS). Mariah’s future plan is to fulfill her dream to become a Sex, Trauma, and Couples Therapist.

Favorite place in the libraries: “Mary Dow Reading Room because I had the best naps in there before and after classes.”

Namita Chauhan, a student employee in Documents on Demand, has worked for the library for one year. Namita will graduate in May with a Master of Science in Administration – Project Management Concentration. Namita has earned three degrees in different areas and the MSA will be their fourth degree. In the future Namita would like to earn a PhD.

“I am really excited to join Amazon after my graduation as an Area Manager. It has been my dream to work for Amazon and it is finally coming true.”

Favorite place in the libraries: “I love studying in the Copeland Suite. The view of campus and spring blossoms is amazing from there.”

Reagan Osborne, a student employee in Documents on Demand, has worked for the library for three years. Reagan will graduate in May with a degree in Social Work and a minor in Family Studies. Reagan plans to move to New York city to get her Master of Social Work degree from New York University.

“My focus for social work is holistic housing and homelessness. I will be mainly working in shelters and group homes.”

Favorite memory of the libraries: “The first summer that I worked at the library, we always had so much fun in the DOD office! “

Thomas Graham, a student employee in the Library Research and Instruction Services since October 2018, will graduate in May with a major in Entrepreneurship, a minor in English, and a creative writing certificate. Thomas is getting married in October and plans to pursue work in the finance field or possibly in the mission field.

 

STUDENT TEACHING:

Emily Schwemer, a student employee in Library Research and Instruction Services since August 2018, is working toward a major in Secondary English Education with a minor in English as a Second Language along with a TESOL certificate. Emily will be student teaching in the fall. Emily’s future plan is to stay in Michigan and teach English Literature.

Olivia Chritz, a student employee in Library Research and Instruction Services since October 2019, is working toward a degree in Early Childhood Development and Learning. Olivia will be student teaching in the fall in her hometown of Midland, Michigan, at the same elementary school she attended years ago.

Favorite place in the libraries:  “The Mary Dow Reading Room. I love the windows and the new individual study spaces.”
