What Is a Paczki

Image of a bakery advertisement for Paczki DayA paczki (pronounced “poohnch-KEY”) is a rich, delicate fried pastry. It is filled, sometimes with jam or sometimes custard, and is covered in powdered sugar, granulated sugar, or a glaze. It’s similar a doughnut, but it’s lighter and the dough is less sweet. Paczkis are difficult to make, and they’re difficult to find outside of the Midwest.
