CIS Studio Spotlight: Exploring Art, Psychology, and Bold Narratives with Kimberly Chapman

Thanks to Jim Carrol and Ralph Baber for another thought-provoking episode of their podcast, Psychology Takeaway!  Recently, they used the CIS Podcast Studio to connect virtually to Kimberly Chapman, an Ohio-based porcelain sculptor whose work challenges norms and sparks dialogue through a powerful female lens. The studio’s setup helped to ensure that Kimberly’s story and artistic mission were shared clearly.

Kimberly’s art confronts dark, often unspoken themes, transforming them into hauntingly beautiful porcelain pieces. She tells the stories of today’s injustices using the same treasured material that emperors and kings demanded for their exquisite dinnerware.  Her current exhibition, 86 Reasons for Asylum Admission, is on display through July 20th, 2025, in CMU’s Park Library Gallery—Baber Room. It invites viewers to engage with vulnerability, resilience, and the complexities of womanhood.
